Documenting systematic process hazard studies
Systematic identification and documentation of hazards
Clear and structured documentation of hazard studies is particularly important when looking for sources of risk with systematic methods, such as the HAZOP (PAAG) method, the "What-If" method or the Zurich Hazard Analysis (ZHA).
BG RCI supports member companies
To support its member companies, the German Social Accident Insurance Institution for the raw materials and chemical industry (BG RCI) has developed relevant document templates and checklists which simplify the documentation of hazard studies.
Documenting process hazard studies
During process hazard studies the conclusions reached by a team must be recorded
including
considered deviations from correct operation,
their causes and
their potential effects.
Generally,
the risks involved are evaluated,
counter-measures specified,
tasks delegated and
comments noted.
A range of columns are predefined in all of the document templates for the purpose of documenting the hazard study. These can be easily modified according to the users requirements.
Easy to use thanks to familiar Office programs
The templates are based on the widely used Office programs WORD and EXCEL. The user is able to select the most appropriate version depending on her/his experience with the program.
Supporting the process hazard study recording and follow-up
The applications use integrated checklists, vary in their complexity and support the user in utilizing results and the follow-up of the study.
Easy adaptation to company requirements
The templates are flexible and their content and range of functions can be adapted to specific company requirements and legal circumstances.
